Mr. Zhu Shiqing, Deputy Director of Shanghai Water Authority (SWA), Mr. Wu Jingming, Director of Science and Technology Division of SWA, Mr. Tang Jianguo, Chief Engineer of Sewage Department of SWA, Mr. Zhang Shanfa, Chief Engineer of Shanghai Municipal Sewage Company. Mr. Huang Ming, Vice General Manager of Shanghai Central Minicipal Sewage Company, Mr. James Mayfield, Commercial Consul, US Consulate Shanghai and Charles Xu, Chief Representative of BioChem Technology Inc. Shanghai Rep. Office attended this TDA/SWA phase I work summary meeting.

First of all, Mr. Zhu introduced TDA/SWA process and current work. He indicated that this TDA/SWA project could provide a practical solution to help the existing Shanghai WWTP to meet the new standards implemented July 1 2003, as well as to reduce the operation cost, especially electricity. I hope this work not only provide a good idea and technology to Shanghai, but also need to apply in Shanghai current upgrade WWTP project.

Then, Mr. Tang provided a detailed introduction of TDA phase I work and next work. He introduced the current Shanghai water issue and planning and mentioned about why Shanghai need BioChem technology for upgrade current WWTP. He has appreciated BioChem’s work in the past month. In the data collecting and sampling work, BioChem has worked with Quyang and Songjiang WWTP to conduct two weeks site work. It has been collected 2, 600 sample. This has established a fundamental foundation for the next compute modeling work. Last, he indicated that it is very important that SWA has established a leadership team to support this TDA/SWA work.

After TDA/SWA working summary report, Mr. Jin, MOC provided a speech in this meeting. Mr. Jin said that he was quite interested in this summary report. He believed the TDA/SWA has identified a clear task work and the work team has prepared a good schedule to start this work. The kick off is very quick. After only less than two months, it has already finished Task I work. He thought BioChem’s technology is very practical and can apply in Shanghai current project. He also mentioned about that this TDA/SWA work can help Shanghai improve WWTP efficiency and reduce operation cost. The benefits through this TDA project will be great. He indicated that this TDA/SWA project will be a pilot case in China. He hope that Shanghai can promote this to other places of China. Mr. Jin said that trade between China and US has developed very fast in the past decades. China will become the first trade partner of US. He hope more and more US technologies can transfer to China. He also point out that US TDA not only invests in developed area, but also invests in western area. After James Mayfield explained TDA function and policy, Mr. Zhu gave a solution that Shanghai can help Western area after Shanghai digested TDA work. Mr. Jin asked James Mayfield to consider US TDA to expand this TDA/SWA work after this project.
After summary report and discussion, all the attendees visited BioChem’s ABAM in Quyang Lab and online analyzers in Quyang WWTP. MOC leader visited site under heavy rain and were quite interested in BioChem’s equipment and facility.
